New Checkout Improvement in Magento 2.0

Magento 2 is the new version of Magento which will be released in late 2015. In the beta version, we can see that the Magento’s developers are continuing to improve and upgrade the new features. Especially, there are many new features for ecommerce. Checkout is one of the most crucial aspects of an ecommerce store; therefore, the checkout process in Magento 2 has been improved for more conversions and for a better user experience.

In Magento 2, the checkout process layout was designed more compact and more concise. The new design will help users more easily to navigate; surely this will help them feel much more comfortable and convenient.

Below are some new and improved features in the Magento 2 checkout process:

– Automatic guest checkout.

Magento 2 will allow customers can check out as a guest if they don’t want to create a store account. So it will help your new customers can make the checkout process faster. Moreover, it will make the customer feel more comfortable because now, they will not be required to login to checkout.

In the old version, the required to login before checkout sometimes make new customers feel uncomfortable because they will have to spend more time to register a new account. With me, this is a very proper adjustment because this will help increase selling rate of the ecommerce website.

– Prompts registered customers to log in.

If your customers already have an account on your site but they are not logged in while doing the checkout. Then Magento 2 will prompt registered customers to log in. And of course, they also can continuing checkout process without login if they prefer not to.

For example, if your customers log in, they can use reward points they have earned during checkout. Also, the checkout inputs are automated with their information if they have their name, address, etc. saved in their store account. Moreover, customers can also keep track of new and past orders by using a store account.

– Order summary with product images.

Magento 2 allows customers can see their product images in their order summary displayed in the right sidebar. A mini shopping cart will display the total and certain attributes which assigned to the product. This helps customers know exactly what they have in their cart. Displayed image of the products in the cart will help them determine whether it is the product that they want to buy or not.

– Receiving shipping rates once information is provided.

When shopping online, there are many customers who always want to know immediately how much they’ll be spending for shipping. This improvement in Magento is very useful for them. In Magento 2, the shipping rates will automatically load right after when customers fill their information.

With older Magento version, to active this feature, the store owners need to use the extension like Magento shipping cost calculator for their store. But with Magento version 2, store owners can do that much easier.

– Billing address not needed unless it’s required by payment solution.

In Magento 2, your customers will do not have to provide their billing address unless stated otherwise. This is an improvement which enables your customers can simply check off if their billing address is the same with their shipping address. This also means that customers can complete the checkout process faster because they will no longer need to enter billing address.

Tips:

If you using Magento 1.x and you can’t wait for Magento 2. You can use Magento One Step Checkout Extension to reduce checkout steps and make checkout process become more easily & more convenient for customers right today.
Conclusion

Overall, the 5 new checkout improvements which mentioned above will make the checkout process easier and faster. We’re all eager for the Magento 2 release this fall!
